Daoud Hawa – Community-Focused Marketing Executive in Virginia

Daoud Hawa is director of marketing at Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), an Islamic faith-based humanitarian organization that provides emergency response and sustainable development aid to people in more than 40 countries around the world. Daoud Hawa joined the organization as a senior communications, marketing, and public affairs manager in 2011 and has been in his current role since 2013. He leads a team of 19 marketing and communications professionals. 

Experienced in creative strategy, campaign management, social media marketing, team building, and direct sales, Daoud Hawa has played a critical role in modernizing IRUSA’s marketing strategies and campaigns through videography, graphic design, digital marketing, and social media engagement. He has helped the organization boost its follower count on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media from around 30,000 to more than 500,000, while also achieving an average increase of about 10 percent in annual donations, including a record $112 million in 2020.  

In addition, Hawa has more than two decades of experience as a real estate agent, most recently working part-time with Ikon Realty and Metropolitan Realty in Fairfax, Virginia. He also spent 13 years as a team manager at Long & Foster Companies, where he generated more than $10 million in semi-annual residential sales.  

Prior to directing marketing for IRUSA, Hawa founded and led Daze Studios as executive director from 2005 to 2011. He provided marketing strategies to more than 150 clients, including NASA, Oracle, Accenture, and Fairfax County. He has additional marketing experience with AOL, CareerBuilder, and Booz Allen Hamilton. 

Daoud Hawa has a certificate in fundraising management from Indiana University’s Lilly School of Philanthropy and holds a bachelor of arts in design and visual communications from George Mason University. He also serves on the board of a mosque in his community in Fairfax County, Virginia, and is a former member of the board of the Al Faith Academy.
